I found frozen Taquitos at Trader Joe's yesterday for about $5 for a package of 10. Each is worth a 1 block snack.
Blocks, here is the description of the block right from the CF journal 21:
A block is a unit of measure used to simplify the process of making balanced meals.
7 grams of protein is 1 block of protein.
9 grams of carbohydrates is 1 block of carbs.
1.5 grams of fat is 1 block of fat.
If you find something in the store, and you are curious to how it falls in to the "Zone" use this formula: Protein Divided by Carbohydrates; the answer for a Zone friendly food will fall in the .7 range anything else is not zone friendly.
In order for a zone meal/snack to work the protein and the carbs have to have the same amount of blocks. If you are training hard everyday, Like some of you MMA fighters, than you may double the amount of fat to protein you are taking in for energy. If you are eating correctly than you will use fat as energy and not carbs. We have a lot more fat stored in our bodies that is to be used for energy than we do carbs. For those of you trying to lose weight I would stick to the block plan you started Zoning with and continue until you are at the desired weight.

Jason, I noticed you are putting a lot of receipes etc that are more geared to the 4-5 block meals. How about something for the ladies who are at 2-3 blocks???
You chicks need to bulk up. We like our women BIG!
I thought 3 grams of fat was one block.
Dave, I've got a big enough butt that I don't need anymore
Dean, I am need to double check this, but I believe that there is 1.5 grams of fat per 1 protein block, like I said I need to double check. SO if that is true you are not far from correct. Otherwise for measuring purposes 1.5 grams of fat is 1 fat block. If you continue to train like you were here, then you can double your fat blocks for energy. oh... and I am sure you know, but your brother killed your 'michael' time. He was so proud of it too. he really worked hard for it too.
Jason, I did some reading, and you're right. Lean protein, according to Dr. Sears has 1.5g of fat, so you need to add another 1.5g of fat to get the 1 (3g) block of fat.
Jason, I actaully found those taquitos at Costco for way less. Same exact ones. 2 of them contain 14g of protien and 18g of carbs.
$12.39 for 40 of them. Can't beat that.
